About

Hi guys,

It’s Otto here and I am the man behind the scenes on projectionscreen.net

I’ve dealt with projection screens professionally for more than 10 years. I’ve built them, repaired them, packed them and sold ‘m.

And now, I felt it was time to hold nothing back and make the best site about projection screens. Period.

Why me?

So who am I to claim to even being able to make the best site about projection screens? Well, here’s my background:

- Founder of Beamax projection screens

- Winner of the 2008 Resi award for best industrial design for projection screens

- International correspondent for leading trade publication AVnews

- Over 10 years of experience with projection screens

Enjoying and learning quite a bit from your site.
I was wondering if you could tell me how to add, and what I need to adapt the screen I have to include a 12v trigger and remote control.
I bought a used Stewart 110″ greyhawk screen that has no options installed and would like to add the above mentioned options.
Thank You

Dear Jan,

Congratulations on your purchase and glad to hear you enjoy the site.

Here are a few tips I can give you:
1. Adding both functions to the screen is a task well suited for an electrical contractor, as you will need a relay to add both a 12V trigger and a projection screen remote.
2. The 12V trigger and the remote contol receiver unit don’t look great, so try to hide them if you can. Keep in mind though that you need a free line of sight if you want an IR remote control.
3. The relay will take the place of the switch and will be placed between mains power and the screen. Again, if possible, make sure you can hide it, so you can avoid this eyesore.

I would contact an electric contractor or home cinema installer to do this for you.

Alternatively, go for either the remote or the 12V trigger and the installation becomes one that you can do yourself.

I hope this helps, but if you need any additional information, please let me know.

Thanks,

Otto
