Quick questions and answers: Does an IR signal from a remote go through a projection screen?

If you have some equipment behind your projection screen when it’s rolled out, you will no be able to control it with an IR remote.

In other words: The IR signal will not pass through the fabric.

The long answer:

Some thin fabrics, or rear projection fabrics will let the IR signal through. But it blocks it to such an extent, that it only works up to 1 or 2 feet away.

This means that in practice, you will not be able to use your IR remote. That’s because despite the fact that the projection fabric does let the signal pass to some extent, at the seating distance from your equipment, the signal will never get there.
